6:30 AM - 2:00 PM
The 2012 Ford Otway Cycling Classic is a mass participation road cycling event (not a race!) with three different rides to suit all types of cyclists, from a challenging 140km circuit to a tranquil 23km journey suitable for families, all amidst the magnificent Otway Rainforest in and around Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Road. As per previous rides in the region courses will include the full 140km Rainforest Circuit along Turtans Track through Lavers Hill, the 70km Lighthouse Discovery Ride to Cape Otway and back again and the 23km Waterfall Explorer ride to Marriners Falls and back again.
The 2012 event is being marketed and promoted by the local Geelong philanthropic organisation called “Give Where You Live” with funds raised going towards their terrific work within the community. All proceeds from the event go directly to Give Where You Live (GWYL). Give Where You Live has been serving the Geelong community since 1954 as a premier philanthropic organisation dedicated to improving lives in the Geelong region.
A volunteer-led, non-profit organisation GWYL leads, supports, and participates in collective, inclusive community efforts that build capacity and mobilise resources to improve lives and create positive, long term social change in the Geelong region.
Funds raised through GWYL events support those in the Geelong Region facing disadvantage – vulnerable elderly, families, children at-risk youth, people in crisis and those facing a serious illness or disability.
